You feel like no one sees the tears you cry.
You feel like no one sees that you're hurting.
On the outside, you look fine… you smile so no one suspects how you really feel. But behind the mask,
there's a deep pain words can't express.
You try to numb the pain by…
Scrolling to escape your thoughts,
Staying busy so you don't have to feel,
Texting that ex,
Seeking attention to feel valued, and
Looking for validation from
people who don’t know their identity.
Yet despite it all… the ache still remains.
You feel like no one understands what you're truly going through.
Like you're standing in the rubble of a life that feels like it's falling apart.
But I want you to know this:
You are not forgotten. God sees you.
In Genesis 16, we read about Hagar, a woman who felt abandoned, rejected, and alone. She found herself in the wilderness, hurting and uncertain about her future. But in that place of pain, God met her.
And she called Him El Roi, which means "The God Who Sees Me."
"You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me."
Genesis 16:13
God saw Hagar in her desert…
And He sees you in yours.
He sees you in your broken places.
And not only does He see you in your desert…
He promises to transform it.
"The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom."
Isaiah 35:1
What feels barren now…
God can make fruitful.
What feels dry…
God can bring to life again.
While God sees and understands completely, sometimes others may not. The people in our lives, even those we love, don’t have the capacity to carry the entirety of our emotions and pain. They are humans and humans have limits.
But God does not.
He has no limits to His compassion.
No limits to His understanding.
No limits to His ability to heal.
And He invites you to bring everything to Him.
All of it.
The tears you cry in private.
The disappointment you don’t talk about.
The questions you’re afraid to ask.
The pain you’ve been carrying for far too long.
He welcomes it all.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7
"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5
God doesn’t just see your pain. He cares about it.
He wants you to be honest with Him about your disappointments… even how you feel toward Him.
Because honesty creates intimacy with God.
When you open your heart to Him, He begins to speak to you, comfort you, and minister healing to your weary soul.
You don’t have to remain in depression.
You don’t have to carry unforgiveness, hurt, or bitterness forever.
The Lord desires to heal you completely.
If you feel like God doesn’t see your pain…
I pray you encounter the God who sees.
I pray your sadness turns to joy.
I pray your pain is turned into restoration.
I pray God takes your broken pieces and creates a masterpiece.
Because you are not forgotten.
You are seen.
You are loved
and God is with you always.
A Prayer For The One Who Feels Forgotten
Dear Heavenly Father,
I lift up the one who feels forgotten, the one silently hurting, the one wondering if You see their pain…
I pray that they would encounter You as El Roi — the God who sees.
Meet them in their desert.
Comfort them in their broken places.
Heal the wounds that no one else can see.
Turn their sadness into joy.
Turn their pain into restoration.
Turn what feels barren into something fruitful.
Remind them that they are not forgotten.
They are seen.
They are loved. They are chosen.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
